My job role was ASM / Sound 2. An ASM (Assistant Stage Manager) handles all the props for the by organising a props table and keeping the back stage area clear during the show. An Sound 2 assists the sound 1 but mainly handles mics this includes: fitting mics, testing mics, and switching mics packs between actors during the show.

ASM and Sound 2
As I played two parts in the show I had a lot to do back stage. During the dress run and the shows as ASM I had to keep the props tidy and in the right place ready for the actors to grab when needed. So before the show I marked out the props tabled with tape and labelled each section so I knew where each prop went and how many of each prop I had. Then before the show I would reset the props ready for the actors. During the show I would monitor which props have be taken and when the actors frow them off stage I would but the back on the props table.
During the dress run and the shows as Sound 2 I would keep track of mics and especially mic packs as we only had 20 with a 52 cast the had to be switched throughout the show. Before the show I would fit the mics both hair line and headset onto the actors. Once the mics are on sound 1 would sound check them as I adjusted when needed. During the show I would switch the mic packs between actors following the mic sheet. there were 8 mic packs that needed to switched all in the first half of the show.

Overall Magic to Do was an amazing show to work on it being my first musical theatre show I thourghly enjoyed it. It lasted two show both going well but there were a few mistakes made during the first show. One mistake during the first show was I accidently gave the wrong mike pack to and actor causing someone else to also have the wrong mic pack. To resolve this I ran around the wings until I found the actors and switched there mic packs before they had to go on. Luckily now I had made that mistake once during the first show I made sure not to make it again in the second show. I conclusion the mistakes I made in the first were all corrected off stage and only made the second show that much better.
